Audioboo has opened up its API to allow any developer Audioboo functionality. This means that any app could add Audioboo integration to its services. This isn’t just something that might happen though – it will happen, and will be appearing on some of the apps you use every day in just a couple of weeks.

Already signed up to add Audioboo integration are BBC, ABC Australia, Guardian, Aljazeera, Sky News and more, all of whom will be adding the new functionality in a couple of weeks. If those high profile news organisations are getting behind Audioboo, then expect more app developers to follow suit.

Mark Rock, founder and CEO of Audioboo, said that this move would “fundamentally change the nature of how audio is captured and then distributed on the Internet.”

As well as this development in the iPhone app, Audioboo also has a major revamp of its Android app in the pipeline, which should bring it up to scratch and make this sort of functionality possible.
