We well in love with the TVonics DTR-HD500 last year. It scooped five stars in our review, and the coveted Electricpig Editor’s Choice award. Now, TVonics have been in touch because they want you, the Electricpig readers, to shape their newest product.

Read on, drop us a line in the comments section, telling TVonics what you’d like to see in a PVR and if your suggestion’s good enough, it might just make it into the finished article.

TVonics is a british set-top box manufacturer. Their kit typically packs great external design, fuss-free interfaces and the sort of bells and whistles that turn a gadget fan’s head. We’re talking HDMI pass-through, so even aging TVs can get the TVonics treatment without losing a precious expansion socket. Or picture-in-picture so you can scope out other channels before flicking over to full-screen.

TVonics’ reps got in touch with us asking if they could pick your brains about “some potential new features for the next TVonics product.” Specifically, are there “any key features that you would really like to see?”

Apparently, TVonics have a “long list of potential features” for their upcoming PVRs, but before they prioritise those new features, they’d like to know what’s on your wishlist. So don’t be shy, shout up in the comments section below!

    “We well in love…”!?

Yoinks! Thanks for spotting Chris. We were well in love, but we also fell in love… It was also late afternoon on a Friday… Fixed now!

For me the issue above all is how long it takes to load the damn EPG on a STB. With Freeview channel ordering all a mess, alot of people rely on this to move around between channels. While obviously all the program data takes a while to load, the ability to fire up the EPG and move up and down channels should be instant. The one on my Sony TV is anything but.

If the Freeview Channel order is a mess in the EPG why can't I customise the EPG!? Move Dave nearer the top whilst putting ITV1, ITV2, ITV3 and ITV4 to the bottom of the list where they belong.

Now THAT'S a nice idea… Personally, I want my PVR to have the ability to select several recordings, then delete them all at once. Why is that so rare?!

Thanks everyone for your feedback, we’re open minded to all your suggestions. We just wanted to highlight to following points that we hope are helpful:
    • All TVonics products have a Channel hide and Channel sort feature so you can rearrange the Freeview channel list to whatever you like, as well as hide channels you don’t
    • The EPG on a TVonics product is available immediately when the box has powered up. This allows you to change channel from the EPG with instantly. It does take some time to fill in the programme data and the box is limited in doing this by how fast the broadcaster sends out the information..
    • We like the idea of deleting several recordings at once. We think it’s probably rare because we are cautious about adding a feature that might result in users accidentally deleting a lot of their recordings. We’ll have a think about a simple and safe way to do it (without accidently deleting everything).

Keep watching our Twitter or Facebook for updates on our progress. Thanks again for your feedback!
