Facebook is updating its photo viewer, meaning that it will be more user friendly, and that it’ll be easier to browse your snaps by opening inside the browser without opening another page. The new Facebook photo viewer will accommodate larger photos; will re-size photos relative to the size of the browser window; will be streamlined to have liking, tagging and comments all within the Facebook photo viewer, and will have faster loading times.

Rollout of the new Facebook photo viewer, as per usual, is gradual, but starts in the UK today.

It is unbelievably horrible. I've never complained before about Facebook profile redesigns or new layouts, but this drives me insane. I hate, amongst other things, that you can't access the menu navigation (home, profile, notifications, messages etc.) It's also slower to scroll up and down. If only they'd make it optional, but that's never been their style. I just hope I'm not alone and other people complain.

It is unbelievably horrible, yes it really is. I use a dell d400 and its fill the screen up. its a joke I cannot understand why they have gone backwards with this.
To be able to look at them right, you have to open it in a new page

At least the black border around images is more flattering, eh?

It's AWFUL!! It makes the photos soooo tiny. I hate it. I hope FB goes back to the old way. If they wanted to make a photo viewer, then they should have tested it out first to see if the images were a decent size. And I'm viewing it on my 32″ LCD TV. It's still too tiny. Who's the person who did this?

It's completely appalling. Not that I have anything against a redesign of photo viewing on FB (that said, I see nothing wrong with the old system anyway), but they have actually made this feature as frustrating, counter-intuitive and idiotic as was technologically possible. Everyone's feedback so far seems to speak for itself so if they've got any sense I'm hoping they change it back asap.

Argh, it's so annoying, I only have a small screen too, so now can barely see the photos anymore.

this new facebook Photo Viewer (is so visually repellent)
here is a quick fix: in the url bar at the end of the address string you can highlight and delete “&THEATER” an hit ENTER then you can then view photo in old format, you have to do it for every picture, it doesn't solve the annoying problem but its all i could find to change it..
