The latest version of the infamous Skyfire browser for Android has been released, version 3.2. Included in the update are several bug fixes and stability improvements, but most importantly — expanded site support and video players such as the BBC iPlayer.
Back in December when Skyfire 3.0.1 for Android launched, they added SD support. Today, we’ve got a nice list of improvements and new features. The first thing you’ll notice is that a search box has been added to the top of the toolbar UI. Finding video in Skyfire is now easier thanks to an increase in the number of content providers.
In terms of usability, the top toolbar no longer needs to load prior to scrolling — meaning you can browse immediately. If you’ve had issues with download and saving files, the update addresses that stability as well as eliminates the crashing.
Skyfire 3.2 for Android has expanded the list of supported sites and video players. In the UK, Skyfire now supports the BBC iPlayer and in Canada the app supports CTV.ca. There’s plenty of other sites and video players supported in the update, but these two highlighted the announcement.
Skyfire 3.2 is available now. Launch the Marketplace application on your Android phone and search for “Skyfire”. Skyfire 3.1 requires an Android 2.x device. If you have Android 1.5 or 1.6, download Skyfire 2.3 which works on Android 1.x devices
