The best iPad apps of the month are here! We’ve been watching the App Store all month for new slate software essentials, and now we can say that these really are the definitive picks. If you’ve got an iPad, these are the iPad apps you need to own – and if you’re reading this from the future on an iPad 2, well, you’ll still want to check them out. They’re that good.

Check out the list to the right

DisplayLink
£1.19
iTunes

DisplayLink grants your Windows computer double vision by turning your iPad into a second wireless monitor. DisplayLink works with Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7. It basically gives you another screen to park applications and windows you’d otherwise have to switch between. But why do that when you can have them viewable on another screen? You’ve now got another reason to boast to your non-iPad toting mates. Can their invisible tablet do this? If there was a best iPad apps for wirelessly boosting productivity category on the App Store, this would be top.

World of Goo
£2.99 | iTunes

Okay, so it isn’t exactly a new game – in fact it was first released on computers back in 2008 – but World of Goo is quite simply one of the best independent puzzle games ever created. You use various types of living goo ball to construct bridges, airships, tongues and other structures in order to progress through the levels, and before long things get hair-rippingly challenging. Great stuff at any price, but it’s currently on sale, so don’t delay.

StreamToMe
£1.79 | iTunes

iOS’s next update looks set to bring wireless video streaming to the iPad (and iPhone and iPod touch), but in the meantime there’s this app, which enables music, photo and video streaming over Wi-Fi or 3G. You can stream from a Mac or PC (although you do need to run an app on whichever computer you use), 720p HD video is supported and there’s no requirement to convert files beforehand – everything is done on the fly.

Broken Sword – The Smoking Mirror: Remastered
£3.99 | iTunes

Broken Sword – Shadow of the Templars was one of the best freebies given away on iTunes over Christmas, and look: here’s the sequel! It’s not free this time, but we reckon that won’t bother anyone looking more gripping point-and-tap adventure game action. Features lovely graphics and full English speech for the entire game – which perhaps explains the hefty 694MB file size. Make sure you’re on Wi-Fi when you grab it!

CrazySlicer
£Free
iTunes

Risking the wrath of Fruit Ninja fans is CrazySlicer. Like its more famed fruit annihilating counterpart CrazySlicer is all about slicing foodstuffs. In this case, the enemy on the (chopping) block is the scourge of every kids dream diet, vegetables. CrazySlicer doesn’t have quite the same pick up and play addictiveness of Fruit Ninja but there’s still Survival mode, Time Trial and a Point Match mode to deliver a serious finger workout to keep veggie-phobes occupied for a while.
