The LG Optimus 2X was one of a bunch of steroid pumped Android phones on show at CES two weeks ago, and while it’s not set to go on sale for a few months yet, we’re already seeing its hardware bear fruit. HD fruit. The LG Optimus 2X is the first phone to pack in 1080p resolution video recording, and now a sample of it has hit the interwebs.

Greek gadget news site Techblog.Gr has managed to nab a preproduction LG Optimus 2X Android phone to test outside of tradeshow confines, and has shot and shared some footage it grabbed in 1080p resolution – previously the highest HD resolution recording available on phones was 720p.

As you can see in the clip above, the LG Optimus 2X phone’s full HD footage is sharp, though not entirely smooth, with fairly impressive sound recording considering the whipping wind evidently in the background. Of course, YouTube compresses videos heavily, so if you’re really intrigued, you can grab the RAW file at the link below.

What do you reckon? Is jerky 108p footage better than smooth 720p? Is it just overkill for a smartphone? Shout up with your thoughts on the LG Optimus 2X footage in the comments below.
