The iPad 2 and iPhone 5 rumour machine has rattled into life in a big way over the past few days and the wildest of them all is that Apple is planning to kill the home button on both devices in favour of totally multitouch gesture focused controls. Boy Genius Reports claims that Apple is already testing homebutton-free iPad and iPhone devices but admits that the information is “pretty wild”. We take that to mean utterly unverified but still worth pondering at least. Could Apple really kill the home button? Other speculation around the iPad 2 includes suggestions that the full iLife suite will arrive on the iPad with Photo Booth retooled to play nice with the long-rumoured front-facing camera. We’re also hearing lots of chatter about those old chestnuts iTunes cloud services and wireless syncing. As usual with Apple rumours, nothing is concrete, everything is up for grab and lots of stuff is utterly made up.

    it was the color of the home button that stopped the white iphone 4 from being released,Apple could not get the right shade of white.

    Steve Jobs doesn't like buttons. If AT&T's Palm Pre didn't had a home button, there is possible to make a home-button free iPhone and iPad.
