Ghostbusters 3 rides on Bill Murrays shoulders? The future of the Ghostbusters franchise may depend on whether our man, Mr. Bill Murray, decides to partake in the latest installment — Ghostbusters 3. According to Ivan Reitman, director of the first two Ghostbuster movies, all previous rumors are void and Bill Murray has just received the finished script of the film. What’s next for Ghostbusters 3?

According to Deadline, Sony Pictures is very adamant about whether Bill Murray is involved in Ghostbusters 3. In fact, “Without Murray, the studio absolutely will not make the film.” Deadline is also reporting that Ivan Reitman and Sony Pictures “have no idea if the mercurial Murray will smile on the script they’ve just sent him”.

These are some serious implications regarding the future of Ghostbusters. The budget of Ghostbusters 3 is rumored to be $150m and the film would certainly be better received from the 80’s generations with Bill Murray involved that without. Assuming Sony Pictures decides to move forward with the project without our main man, could the film still survive?

Sound off in the comments and let us know whether or not you’d go out to watch Ghostbusters 3 if Bill Murray is not involved in the project? For the record, we’d probably have to take a pass on this one. There’s just something about a sequel losing original actors that doesn’t sit well with us. Going way back to a 1985 cult classic, American Ninja, we are still devastated to see Michael Dudikoff replaced by David Bradely in the third installment of the franchise.

Now if they can get a few of the orignal guys back and maybe make it so that the business has been running for a while now, maybe with new employees or something. That in my mind would make it work a lot better and seem to roll on from the previous 2, I hope they dont just decide to go with Ghostbusters as the theme and ignore the previous ones!
