Lady Gaga Grey Label Polaroid GL30 camera

Camera releases often take a back seat at CES, but this year was top notch for novelty and exciting extras. Lady Gaga’s Grey Label for Polaroid got the company doing what it should have done ages ago: locking into the hipster pound and getting back to its roots as a retro, portable brand. Aside from Gaga’s mad sunglasses, a raft of unexciting compacts were announced, with a few exceptions: Wi-Fi with remote shooting, 3D capture and super compacts for under £100. We’ve found the needles in the haystack: click through for our roundup of the best cameras from CES 2011.

Polaroid GL20
Camera releases can often be a dull business, with improvements coming in the smallest of baby steps, but Gaga just went off piste instead, unleashing the Polaroid GL20 sunglasses on CES 2011. Polaroid is being brave giving these a go, and we’ve yet to try them to see if the 1.5 inch LCDs obscure vision, but who needs to see where they’re going when you look as fabulous as this?

Polaroid GL30
If you’re unlikely to invest in Gaga glasses then check out the Polaroid GL30. It’s a digital upgrade of the classic Polaroid camera, with a 12MP sensor packed in its retro body. There’s an LCD display on the bottom of the Polaroid GL30, and it prints instantly to Polaroid’s Zink paper too.

Samsung SH100
At first glance the Samsung SH100 is nothing new. It has Wi-Fi capabilities, which we’ve seen before, a 14.2MP sensor and three inch LCD screen. Pair the Samsung SH100 with a Samsung Galaxy S though and via the smartphone touchscreen you can control the camera shutter to zoom and shoot remotely. Not only that, but the Galaxy S will act as a remote viewfinder for the SX100 too.

Kodak Easyshare Mini
The Kodak EasyShare Mini makes the list because it’s one of the smallest cameras we saw at CES 2011. The Kodak Easyshare Mini is about the size of a standard business card, and makes this list because of its super compact body that clocks in at about the height and width of your average business card. It’s feature light, but still packs a 10MP sensor, 3x optical zoom and 2.5 inch LCD screen. It’s super cheap too, and clocks in at a touch under $100 (£64).

Sony Cybershot TX10
The Sony Cybershot TX10 is a rough and ready compact camera that will withstand heat, freezing temperatures and can function underwater. It has HD video capabilities, and has a 16.2MP camera and a 4x optical zoom. So what’s special about it? Well, along wit being super tough, the TX10 (along with a bunch of other Cybershot cameras announced at CES) can also shoot 3D images, which you can view in 2D, or play via a 3D capable TV.

What do you like the look of? Is Gaga’s Grey Label just another gimmick? Shout out in the comments!
