The Blackberry Playbook came out of CES 2011 with many tech observers impressed with their hands-on time but former RIM employee Raymond Reddy (he worked in corporate development for RIM until 2008 and now runs his own Android-focused music start-up PushLife) has crticised the device…

He says the Blackberry PlayBook will arrive late because RIM is struggling to port the much-loved Blackberry email experience to the new QNX OS. He also claims that third-party apps will be thin on the ground when the PlayBook launches with developers reluctant to jump from the familiar Blackberry OS to the new QNX environment. Finally, Reddy says the Wi-Fi only version of the PlayBook will not be able to connect to current Blackberry-supported corporate email systems. The last one is a serious issue for a firm that sells itself on that corporate love-in.
