Forget Microsoft’s Avatar Kinect, this is as close to Star Trek’s Holodeck as we can find at CES 2011. Sharp’s i3 Wall is made up of its thin bezel displays and is designed to simulate environments above, below, to the sides and in front of you.

Gawp into it, and it’s almost enough to make you believe you’re not in an aircraft hangar sized gadget show, but rather the serene environs of an ancient ruin.

Of course, the Sharp i3 isn’t something you’d buy, but rather a demonstration of Sharp’s multi display technologies. So don’t expectit to be replacing the 3D TV experience any time soon. What do you reckon though? Should Sharp instead be commercializing it as the next generation of virtual reality? Fancy your own Holodeck at home?
