We’ve just got hands on with the Samsung Galaxy Player here at CES, and we must say, it’s nice. What is clear though is that the Samsung Galaxy Player is a proper iPod touch pretender, but without as big a wallop when it comes to gaming. Click through for more photos.

The Samsung Galaxy Player is slightly boxier and a little deeper than the Samsung Galaxy S, and the back is white instead of the shiny black of the Galaxy S. While they look different, we reckon if you owned a Samsung Galaxy S and a Samsung Galaxy Player you’d get them muddled up quite a bit when whipping them out of your pocket or digging them out of a bag.

What you can’t tell from these photos is that the four inch WVGA screen has a really impressive viewing angle, with colours staying crisp even at really wonky angles. The screen itself is bright, and brilliantly sharp, and the Android browser was pretty nippy too.

Playback pushed to decent enough volumes to easily block out the racket of the rest of CES, and the physical home key is a nice change, and improves navigation too.

The Samsung Galaxy Player is running Android Froyo, and has a 3.2MP camera, and comes in 8GB or 16GB models. It’s available from tomorrow on Amazon, and clocks in at almost £50 cheaper than the iPod touch, with the 8GB version setting you back £150, going up to £180 for the 16GB Samsung Galaxy Player.

Out tomorrow | £150-180 | Samsung (via Amazon)

The device on the amazon page is not the same as on the CES. The device on the amazon page has a 3,2″ screen, and the device shown on the CES a 4″ screen.

They are two different devices, the one on the amazon page is the Samsung Galaxy Player 50 whereas this one is the Samsung Galaxy Player. The Galaxy Player is more powerful and bigger than the Galaxy Player 50 and the Galaxy Player has a front facing camera where asthe 50 doesn't.
