We’ve been following the HTC ThunderBolt for quite some time beginning with leaked images and even gave you a list of confirmed specs. Today at CES 2011 we heard the official word from the horse’s mouth. The HTC ThunderBolt is exclusive to Verizon Wireless — here’s the latest on the new Android superstar.
The HTC Thunderbolt features Dolby surround sound and is DLNA compatible. This means you’ll be able to stream to home electronics and use your DLNA connection for streaming high definition videos from your home computer to your phone. Full 4G LTE support in onboard along with Android 2.2 and the Sense 2.0 UI. Skype mobile with video will be used with the 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera to accompany the 8-megapixel rear shooter.
At the heart of the HTC Thunderbolt is a 1 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, not the Tegra 2 processor seen on the latest Motorola handsets and tablets. In terms of screen real estate, you’ll have a 4.3-inch display running at the industry standard WVGA resolution. Bluetooth and WiFi are also in tow so overall this looks to be a very solid handset.
There’s no word on whether the HTC ThunderBolt will be coming to Europe so for now we’ll just enjoy our hands-on time with the device. Check back later in the day as we get a chance to put this bad boy through its paces.
Coming Soon | Verizon Wireless | TBD
