We’ve known Google NFC payment plans are in the works – look at the Google Nexus S with NFC built-in – and heard some interesting whispers yesterday. Now more anonymous sources have been spilled details. The loose-lipped folk say Google is planning to support NFC payments in physical stores with a commercial service potentially set for launch this year. The Google Nexus S has the option for networks to open NFC payment services but also an embedded element that Google could use for its Google NFC plans. With apps, Google would also be able to give other providers like Visa and Mastercard access to Nexus S NFC payments. NFC should be big this year and we would not be terribly surprised to see Apple putting NFC into the iPhone 5 particularly as it has buckets of NFC patents in the bank.
