Boxee-remote-1

Boxee fans have been installing the media centre software on their computers for years, but newcomers snapping up a Boxee Box have been getting special treatment: namely, Boxee’s awesome remote. We raved about it in our Boxee Box review, but now it’s going on sale separately, so Mac and PC home theatre buffs can get a slice of the QWERTY-backed action.

Not yet seen the Boxee Remote? It’s a sleek RF controller, which works whichever way you put it, and however surreptitiously you’ve stashed the hardware it’s controlling. The kicker though, is the QWERTY keypad on its rear.

Perfect for tapping in web addresses, Wi-Fi passwords and login details, the Boxee Remote is a design triumph, and how homebrew Boxee fans can own it too.

We confirmed the news with Steve Stanzione, D-Link marketing specialist at CES just now. The news is so fresh D-Link’s website, listed on the back of the Boxee Remote packaging, isn’t yet live. He told us that while there’s no confirmed price or release date for the Boxee Remote, but it’ll be on sale in the US and UK.
