The Amazon Android app store is on the way imminently and more details have emerged thanks to a new developer hub and some big-mouthed insiders chatting to Techcrunch. Amazon is following Apple’s lead with the iTunes App Store and will approve Android apps before they make the virtual shelves of the Amazon Android app store. Unlike Apple though, Amazon won’t have a vast list of rules, it’ll just be binning porn apps or ones related to illegal activity as well as apps that are just janky…
Amazon will be throwing 70% of the sale price to developers and will be establishing standard pricing. Amazon will have an online store so you’ll be able to send links to apps to yourself or friends from a computer rather than having to browse via a phone or tablet. Amazon will also use the current Amazon Recommends… algorithm to recommend apps you might like. That’ll be based not just on the apps you buy but other purchases you make on Amazon.com.
