Google NFC service coming in 2011?The Google Nexus S touts built-in NFC support and came with a promise to bring mobile payments to the masses. For now the Nexus S NFC capabilities are limited reading, not the full two-way communication necessary for purchases. Will Google offer a complete NFC service in 2011?

According to sources speaking with Business Week, Google is eying mobile payments via NFC this year. The plan is to push the full capabilities of NFC inside the Nexus S sometime in 2011. With projections weighing in at $1.13 trillion in global mobile-payment transactions for 2014, there’s plenty of incentive to make the push.

For now we know that Verizon, At&t, T-mobile, Apple and Visa will be joining Google with plans to unleash NFC support. With the Nexus S readily available for mass consumption, Google will have their foot in the door for pole position in the contact-less payment realm. Let’s just hope they can deliver their NFC service this year.
