To top off a raft of tablets and strange hybrid netbook/tablet creatures (see the Asus Eee Pad Slider), the icing on the cake at the Asus press conference was this mad video for the extension of Waveface, which we heard about at last year’s CES. Meet Iris, a “concept extension”, which stands for Inspirational Research for Immersive Space. Don’t worry too much about what that actually means, as it’s highly unlikely this will ever see the light of day. Click through for the full video.
Iris appears to be a device which has some sort of non-solid screen, that extends and contracts, from a watch size to a size big enough to play a game of online poker with life-sized cards. It also has no hardware buttons, and by the looks of things, very little in the way of a visible operating system and controls. What this screen is made of we can’t beging to imagine, but it’s probably best not to ask.
Cue wobblecam…
