UPDATE: The Asus Eee Pad Transformer will comes in models costing between $399 and $699 (£250-£450), and is out in April.
The Asus Eee Pad Transformer didn’t give Lenovo‘s tablet docking laptop much time in the sun. Asus chairman Johnny Shih just outed this 10.1-inch tablet in a laptop at the company’s CES 2011 press conference in Las Vegas. It’s running Android (version unknown but heavily skinned), and packs an Nvidia Tegra 2 system on a chip for creamy smooth HD video playback and whatnot.
The screen is a super sharp 1280×800, and there’s USB and HDMI connectivity included too. Asus is even promising a 16 hour battery life when docked in the laptop shell. The only things we don’t know: when it’s coming out, and at what price. Until then, we reckon it’s just about pipped the Samsung Galaxy Tab as our favourite non-Apple tablet.
