In just a couple of days CES 2011 will kick off in the Las Vegas Convention center. But what is CES? Hit the jump for our bite-sized guide to the International Consumer Electronics Show.
CES is one of the largest consumer electronics shows in the tech industry calender. Companies use CES to get together, do some business and talk to the press. They also like to show off their new products and since the first show back in 1967, CES has seen the launch of many major gadgets and entertainment devices.
The Video recorder, the CD, Laserdisc and Blu-Ray were all unveiled first at CES shows, as were the original Xbox, the Nintendo Entertainment System and the game Tetris. It’s tech ground-zero, basically.
CES 2011 is expected to be heavy on the 3D, with wall to wall smartphone apps and with enough tablets to stock a hypochondriac’s bathroom cabinet. CES is closed to the public, but Electricpig will be there to report back on the latest crop of gadgets and software that will have you drooling well into 2011.
