Spotify CEO Daniel Ek rocked up to the D: Dive Into Mobile conference (it’s what all the cool kids are doing) and told the crowd that Spotify US is still on track but couldn’t say when it will launch. What he did confirm though is that Spotify US will come in at $10 a month which would make it marginally cheaper than the current standard Spotify subscription in the UK. Why’s Spotify US stalled right now? Ek says it’s all down to the record industry and the “complex deals” it requires rather than Spotify losses problems. We’re not so sure…

Spotify now has over 750,000 paying subscribers. Shakil Khan, head of special projects for Spotify, just announced the numbers via Twitter. Back in March this year that figure sat at 320,000, meaning the number of people paying for premium Spotify services has almost doubled in the last nine months. With news that Spotify US could be just around the corner, it could be all change for Spotify in the months to come.

The Blackberry PlayBook hasn’t been released yet but RIM head-honcho Mike Lazaridis is talking big. He says the Blackberry PlayBook OS is the future direction for ALL Blackberry smartphones and is the magic bullet that will bounce Blackberry into the next stage of its development.
