Android Honeycomb 2.4 not 3.0?

Android Honeycomb, the Android 3.0 we’ve been expecting after Christmas, could in fact be 2.4, potentially pushing back the release of the 3.0 to later in the year. As it stands, Android Honeycomb still looks like it’s the first Android build for tablets, but that the Android 3.0 tag is being saved “for something big”.

We don’t usually get arty farty here at Electricpig towers, but this time, it involves lasers. As of last night, the Tate Liverpool and FACT (Foundation for Art and Creative Technology) art galleries were connected by a giant green glowing laser beam. The laser beam travels 800 metres as the crow flies, as part of the exhibition by new media artist Nam June Paik and to mark the 50th anniversary of the laser.

Christmas 3D TV? No thanks

With news of Avatar 3D, and Attenborough’s latest offering, we asked you whether you’d be snuggling up on the sofa with your 3D glasses to watch the raft of Sky 3D TV scheduling this Christmas. Over half of you, 59 per cent, said no, 3D TV was a fad and you would not be investing in it. But 31 per cent were being carried on the wave of hype, and while you didn’t have the 3D gadgetry needed, you wished you were. Ten per cent of you, a bigger proportion that we expected to see, were early adopters, who’d invested in the TV and the glasses and were counting the days down already.
