Apple iBooks includes a number of treasure troves of excellent free publications. If you’re planning on getting your head around iOS development in 2011, you can nab a fistful of Apple Developer Publications for free.

Search for “apple developer publications” on your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch and you’ll find the six books that are available right now. Let us know how you get on if you do start wading through the iOS developer guides, they’re not exactly light reading!

A UK porn ban could be on the cards as the government prepares to meet ISPs in January to discuss a requirement for users to specifically request access to porn rather than just being able to plug rude terms into the search engine of their choice. The thinking behind the plans is based on the “think of the children” rational.

Conservative MP Claire Perry told the Sunday Times: “We are not coming at this from an anti-porn perspective. We just want to make sure our children aren’t stumbling across things we don’t want them to see.” Is this a slippery slope to censorship or simply good sense? The Google TV rollout is being delayed by Google as it struggles with software issues that have led to lukewarm reviews and high user returns. Google TV devices from Sony and Logitech are already out in the US but an avalanche of other Google TV products from LG, Toshiba and Sharp were meant to be unveiled at CES 2011.  It now looks like that’s no longer the case…
