Standard Apple TV streaming from a Mac is limited using AirPlay but the ever-creative Erica Sadun at TUAW has created a tool to stream info outside of iTunes. With AirFlick you can also add live video format conversion. To do that grab the unofficial Mac AirVideo client here, play a video using live conversion from within that AirVideo client. Inspect the video with Movie Insptector from the Windows menu in Quicktime X. Note that url and you can paste it into AirFlick and your Apple TV is now able to play almost any video format you can think of. Let us know in the comments how it works out for you.
