Infinity Blade | iTunes | £3.49
This is not just one of this week’s best iPhone apps, it’s our new addiction. The hack and slash RPG is easily the best iPhone game ever. The graphics using the Unreal 3 engine are stunning and the gameplay is brilliant. Fighting a series of battles to reach the evil God King, you’ll find yourself struck down by him initially, immediately returning as a new bloodline of your character retaining the new armour and weapons you’ve gained along the way. Infinity Blade is hands down brilliant.

TinyVox Pro | iTunes | £1.79
Our library of best iPhone apps includes plenty of audio-sharing apps but TinyVox is one of the coolest we’ve seen so far. With a UI based on an old school tape recorder, TinyVox makes it really easy to record thoughts and even podcasts and share them directly to Twitter, Facebook and Tumblr. Now all we’ve got to do is think of something interesting to say.

iMovie (UPDATE) | iTunes | £2.99
Now, of course, iMovie has had a place in our best iPhone app list for some time but it had an update a couple of months back and we’ve just picked it up again. Reporting on the student protests last week, I was able to shoot and edit footage on the street and upload it within minutes. That’s the brilliance of iMovie and why the integration with the iPhone 4′s features that comes with being an Apple app makes it the king of video in our best iPhone apps library.

VoiceDJ | iTunes | £free with £1.19 in-app purchase for upgrade
Android owners are used to having pretty full-on voice control smarts throughout their OS of choice but for iOS fans, voice controls have been a little lacklustre. VoiceDJ changes that for iTunes giving you the option to play tracks, create playlists and control your iTunes library entirely with your voice. It’s not perfect but it is damn impressive and could definitely be a day-to-day tool rather than just an impressive party trick, particularly if you want to shout to your iPhone while it’s in its dock. An easy inclusion in the music section of our best iPhone apps.

Star Wars Imperial Academy | iTunes | £free
A free Star Wars MMO for your iPhone? Amazing. Star Wars academy pits you against people from around the world in blaster battles where you can play one of a clutch of Star Wars characters. We’ve stuck with Stormtrooper right now but you can also go with Boba Fett. The controls are a little tricksy to get the hang of initially but Star Wars Academy graduates to our best iPhone apps library on the basis of being sheer bloody good fun.
