4oD on PS3: no archive, just catch-up content

4oD arrived on the PS3 this week, but in a bit of a blow to a very welcome addition to the PS3 media player, it turns out that only two week’s worth of 4oD catch up content will be available through the PS3 initially, although Channel 4 says that 4oD archive content is on the way.

A spokesperson for Channel 4 said: “At launch there will be two weeks of catch-up available building up to the full 30 day catch up service over the next two weeks. At launch it is catch up only with plans to add archive in the New Year.” meaning that this week, you’ll only be able to get recent content on your PS3.

Back at the beginning of the week, Channel 4 said this was the first time a games console had the credentials and capacity to be able to deal with its content, and that the 4oD PS3 deal would help Channel 4 reach its 16-34 demographic.
