Skyfire for Android 3.0.1 adds SD supportHead to the Android Market, a new version of Skyfire (version 3.0.1) is available, complete with a few new features and many bug fixes. If you’ve been waiting to move Skyfire to your SD card to free up memory and currently run Android 2.2 or higher, it’s time to upgrade.

Skyfire 3.0 for Android was a hit, in fact we use it as our primary browser on all of our Android handsets. However, the team at Skyfire has received reports that there are still some infrequent crashes and according to their blog, “that’s simply not acceptable”. With the launch of Skyfire 3.0.1, the team has made it very easy to send anonymous logs, a feature they hope will help stop future bugs immediately.

So what’s the new version of Skyfire for Android bring to the table? First and foremost, you can now move the app to your SD card. The feature is available to all Android devices running 2.2 (FroYo) or higher. Simply head to “Manage Applications” and go into “Settings” to make the switch.

The second key feature is an improved download workflow. File downloads will not happen in the background and a notification will be placed in the system tray, not much different from how we are notified when downloading apps in the Android Market.

The third and final big change is also for FroYo users. In Skyfire 3.0.1 you can now upload files from within the web browser. This means that if you are a fan of file sharing sites that do not currently offer a standalone app — you can do it from the browser. If you’d like to give the feature a go, simply head to uploadgeek.com and upload a photo.

To download Skyfire for Android version 3.0.1 simply head to the Android Market and search “Skyfire” or if you have the app installed you can simply do the update.
