Apple iPlay gaming console concept exposedApple’s entry into the console gaming market is not a new topic of discussion, but seeing concept renderings takes things to a whole new level. In the latest set of concept renderings for the Apple gaming console, dubbed iPlay, we get our first glimpse of what the future of Apple gaming might look like, are you ready?

Here it is, Apple iPlay. The Apple gaming console looks to be a mix of the first generation Playstation 3, mixed with an older iMac — you remember, back in the day when the iMac had the hump down beneath the monitor. We’re not entirely sold on the idea of a wired control, especially in its current form which looks awfully similar to the Playstation remote, but the overall concept is not half bad.

Apple iPlay gaming console concept exposed

A glowing Apple logo is a nice touch and if Apple does decide to make a gaming console, this looks like a good design to start with. I’ve been known to be a sucker for early adoption so you might as well pencil me in. Anyone else ready for the Apple iPlay gaming console?

To my eyes, this is a Microsoft XBOX360 fans idea of an Apple device. And why not, the 360 is a major hit, but no, nothing here says Apple.

Too fussy and has wires on the controller! For that matter it has buttons too! Not very apple…

Exactly. At this point, an Apple game device would probably look more like a big brother to the Apple TV and the controller would probably be more like the Apple remote with a gyro and accelerometer built in.
The controllers will definitely NOT look like Playstation controllers.

So, it's a silver bread bin with a Platstation controller?

Isn't an Apple TV apps store a more likely tv gaming route? The existing games consoles all seem to be going the other way and adding TV stuff so why not reverse the trend. And yeah, Apple would be wireless like the existing remote app for phone/Touch.

Every market Apple enters they bring something new and compelling to the table. What can they do to make gaming better or at least different?

If it doesn't run Gran Turismo, iDon'tWantIt would be a good name for the device. It doesn't seem likely Apple will be coming out with any gaming console that doesn't use iOS games. That would be like throwing thousands of games into the garbage. It would be nice if they built a console that could run both iOS and OSX games or iOS and some newly devised high-end gaming platform. They could probably corner the gaming market.
