The Blackberry PlayBook hasn’t been released yet but RIM head-honcho Mike Lazaridis is talking big. He says the Blackberry PlayBook OS is the future direction for ALL Blackberry smartphones and is the magic bullet that will bounce Blackberry into the next stage of its development. He predicts that the QNX-based Blackberry PlayBook OS will migrate to multi-core Blackberry smartphones and other tablets in the next few years…

At the Wall Street Journal’s Dive Into Mobile conference, Lazaridis showed off the Blackberry PlayBook in the flesh and promised it’ll arrive in Q1 2011. He also was clear that the Blackberry PlayBook OS is where RIM is putting all its focus: “This is a complete mobile computing platform. All of this is coming together to set up Blackberry for the next decade.”
