The icy weather continues to send a chill down our collective spines. Time to grab a warming bowl of soup from the stove (or, if you’re in the office, the manky microwave), kick back in your slippers and enjoy three of the morning’s finest tech news stories.
First, it’s good news for people who like seeings lots of blue CGI cat-people running through jungles – in three dimensions. Yes, it’s Avatar, and it’s coming to Sky 3D this Christmas Eve. Sky will simulcast James Cameron’s money-printing action movie on Sky Movies Premiere HD and Sky 3D at 8pm on the night before Christmas. Dust off those goofy specs and prepare the aspirin.
Second, Apple big cheese Phil Schiller has popped up on Twitter. This is newsworthy because Apple’s people are normally so wary of saying anything potentially off-message. Could Phil be the most hilarious “celebrity” to follow since 50 Cent discovered microblogging? Probably not, but we live in hope.
Third and final is the rumour-tastic story that the Xbox 360 could be getting a subscription TV service. Apparently – and this is none other than Reuters saying this – US networks ABC, NBC, Fox, CBS, ESPN and CNN, as well as the likes of HBO are in talks about bringing content to the service. Could it come to the UK? Fingers and toes are very much crossed.
