Our best iPhone apps of the week is the honey pot into which we pour the sweetest apps created by the iTunes App Store’s busy worker bees. This week’s tasty selection of sugary software delights ranges from a gooey game with a nostalgic edge to the most genius diary app ever and the best camera app you didn’t realise you needed. Buzz through to the other side for the hive marked “home of the best iPhone apps of the week”…

Talkonaut | £free | iTunes
This is our most practical inclusion in best iPhone apps this week. Talkonaut is a pretty powerful IM app with support for Jabber and GChat chat accounts. It generally runs nicely as a background app on the iPhone but there can be the occasional cut out of audio when switching between music and the app. Fast becoming our favourite iPhone IM client.

Astronut | £free | iTunes
A brilliantly simple game with charming graphics – fling the astronaut from asteroid to asteroid, planet from planet avoiding the evil purple aliens on the way. Like the best games in our best iPhone apps selections, Astronut is a perfect pick up and play game for jumping in to when you’re on the train or bored at the bus stop.

Infinicam | £1.19 | iTunes
The world of best iPhone apps is full of great camera apps. The makers of Infinicam were also the brains behind one of the classics, Camerabag. They’ve returned with Ininicam which takes the idea of filters which was done so well by Hipstamatic and pushes it to the next level with an app which can generate millions of different camera style combinations of filters and film borders. An easy entry into our best iPhone apps library.

Tron | £free | iTunes
The most nostalgic of this week’s best iPhone apps, Tron is an absolutely brilliant game, especially for free. The only issue is the occasional push ad. Get past those and you’ve got the classic Tron Light Cycle and Light Tank games on your iPhone. Warning: you are likely to get addicted, especially to the excellent multiplayer modes, we’ve been blasting our friends in Light Tank battles for hours, in fact this best iPhone apps column was almost late because of it.

Momento | £1.19 | iTunes
Many a time we’ve tried to start a journal but failed to keep it up because it requires one of those qualities we just don’t have…discipline! But now we’ve found one of the best iPhone apps for cheating our way to a complete journal. Momento grabs your activity from sites like Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Flickr and Foursquare amongst many others to fill in an record of what you’ve been up to. You can also add photos and text entries, lock your journal with a passcode and export it as plain text with images.
