If you’re buying someone a Nintendo Wii for Christmas, can we point you in the direction of Sainsbury’s? The supermarket has just announced a seriously tasty price slash of 25 percent, with the £159.99 Nintendo Wii now selling from tomorrow to 2 December at £119.99, with the Nintendo DSi and DSi XL handhelds getting a quarter lopped off their respective pricetags too.

There don’t seem to be any catches with this Nintendo Wii deal either: there’s no need to buy X amount of shopping at the same time, or trade anything in. Just one per customer. It’s a shame Sainos isn’t selling the limited edition red Nintendo Wii, but for £40 off, who cares about the colour, right? PS Definitely get the black one.

Assassin’s Creed 4 is coming next year. We had heard there would be a break after Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood (out on Friday) and Assassin’s Creed 2 which only came out last year but it seems Ubisoft has changed its mind. CEO Yves Guillemot told investors yesterday: “There will be something around Assassin’s [next year].” So not details but we’re told that we’ll hear about Assassin’s Creed 4 in January. Hit the headlines and head for the comments to tell us where you want Assassin’s Creed 4 to go. We’d love to see a more modern take on the assassins.

Angry Birds has got plenty of attention and is safely ensconced at number 1 in our best iPhone games chart but over on the iTunes App Store something worrying is going down. The Angry Birds are being bested by…Smurfs. App-watcher supreme, Stuart Dredge over at Mobile-Ent.biz notes that Angry Birds is getting its ass whooped by Smurfs’ Village in both the US and UK App Stores and that’s down to in-app purchases of “smurfberries” in the blue irritants’ game. Angry Birds gets cash from its download price but those damn Smurfs rake it in more consistently. It truly is a blue day in hell my friends, the Angry Birds should have focused less on those pesky pigs and more on the blue menace!
