SlingPlayer for iPad arrives

SlingPlayer for iPad, which lets you stream content to your iPad from your Slingbox, is now available. The Slingplayer iPhone app arrived earlier in the year, and the two carry the same price tag of £17.99. It’s a hefty price for an app, but a one-off fee that means you can stream any content you can see on your home TV to your iPad.

Yesterday we asked you whether you would jailbreak iOS 4.2, despite the fact that it’s still tethered, meaning you’ll have to connect to your computer to use jailbreak mode. The results were split, but 52.5 per cent of you said that you would be waiting till the iOS 4.2 jailbreak was untethered. 17.5 per cent said you already had jailbroken your device, and 30 per cent said you would not be jailbreak iOS 4.2 at all.

The new iPad you’re craving could come with The Daily iPad newspaper app preinstalled. That’s the latest chatter surrounding Rupert Murdoch’s plan to create an iPad media marvel. Rumours are hotting up that Steve Jobs will back The Daily in a December 9 announcement unveiling iOS 4.3 and that the backing will extend to putting it on every iPad straight out of the gate. Other details around this alleged plan for new iPad sales haven’t emerged and it could all be so much waffle. Commentators are already declaring The Daily dead-in-the-water without even seeing it but we think a team up of Steve Jobs and Rupert Murdoch will be like one of those superhero crossover events – epic! Google Music looks like it won’t arrive before Christmas and probably not until 2011. The issue? Well, it’s our good friends the music industry throwing their collection of diamond-encrusted spanners in the works. Google Music is planned as both a store and digital locker service and it’s apparently the second part bothering record labels. The record industry is worried that listeners will store and stream illegally downloaded music in their Google Music locker. Yes, they probably will. So what?
