Reports have been circulating around and about of mysterious ghost FaceTime calls made between iOS devices running iOS 4.2.1, most of them around the exact same time. Has your iPhone 4 or iPod touch done any rogue FaceTiming in the last few days?

The issue was brought up on Apple support forums on November 27. Both iPhone 4 and iPod touch users have been affected by the FaceTime glitch. Users are reporting that the calls were put in at exactly the same time across time zones (6:30pm LA, 9:30pm NY, 2:30am London, 3:30am Europe), and iPhone 4 users are also reporting  that the devices used to place the FaceTime calls were often switched off or completely idle when the call was put in.

One user reports putting a call in to his wife while they were both sat next to each other and his iPhone 4 was idle. This seems to be another factor in the FaceTime calls too: they’re all made between contacts.

Those receiving calls were not all on iOS 4.2.1 either – some had not updated yet, and it wasn’t restricted to one territory: the problem is reported across Thailand, in Belgium and the US.

Has your iPhone 4 or iPod touch put in a phantom call this past week? Drop us a line in the comments and tell us about it!
