Humax is launching its Humax TV Portal from January next year, bringing Sky Player, high quality BBC iPlayer streams, YouTube, Flickr, Wikipedia and internet radio to a TV near you.

There are also plans to add more on demand content and catch up services, plus shopping and social networking services.

Wikipedia is available, but it’s not a key selling point: “It’s not pretty”, says Humax, and as such there’s no standalone browser for the Humax TV Portal, as the processor isn’t powerful enough to deal with Flash support.

There’s currently no dedicated video on demand service either, although Sky Player has access to Sky Anytime. Humax has promised that there will be video on demand content coming to the Humax TV Portal though.

The Humax TV Portal will be available through Humax Freeview HD boxes, on the HDR-FOX T2 and the HD-FOX T2 from January 2011.

You say it's coming to Humax freeview boxes, is it also coming to Humax freesat boxes as I have the Humax Foxsat HDR and am interested in this!

Looks good — no sign of Sky Player on it yet though – but it must be coming as it says on the FOX HDR T2 box!The iPlayer has HD and Radio too – more than the Fetch version, seemingly.
