Prizes-gallery

Got a hankering for some free gadgets? Beside yourself at the prospect of Christmas being less than a month away? You need to get stuck in to the Electricpig Advent Calendar. We’ve partnered with the generous folks at PC World to give away a fantastic high tech prize every day until Christmas day, starting tomorrow.

There are Advent laptops, gaming PCs and Android tablets up for grabs, as well as digital photo frames and accessories from new keyboard and mice sets to thumping new speaker sets. Take a look at the gallery above, and you’ll see the goods on offer. We’ve got over £3,000 worth of goodies to give away, and all you have to do to win them is look out for an advent calendar post on the homepage of Electricpig, dive inside and comment to win!

Each day we’ll as you for something special in our comments box. It might be a festive joke, your favourite snow-themed pop song, or the best way to say ‘Merry Christmas!’ in a foreign language. All you have to do is scroll down the page, log in using your Facebook account (so we can contact you easily) and be the first to comment. It really is that simple.

As soon as we see someone’s submitted the first comment we’ll reveal the prize, and to keep things fair we’ll be posting each day’s Advent Calendar post at a different time, chosen at random between 9am and midday GMT. Our standard terms and conditions apply, and the competition is open to UK entrants only. If the first commenter is outside the UK, or fails to provide contact details (i.e. a Facebook account we can send a message to) then we’ll pick the next commenter, and keep going until we find a valid winner.

So stay tuned. Keep your eyes on the Electricpig homepage, and good luck in nabbing a festive prize!

Any chance you could also allow comments signed in via Twitter? Can't use Facebook sign in at work, and twitter DM is just as easy a way to contact a winner. Going to be so frustrating watching those prizes go and not being able to take part!

    • James Holland

Afraid not – we've tried it before, and it's not reliable enough… Plus, Facebook lets us check locations too so we don't have to re-draw over and over until we find a winner in the UK!

      • http://www.lifenoodle.co.uk Quesh

Thanks James. I've just noticed on home computer that because my Disqus and FB accounts are linked, if I sign in on FB, it goes to my Disqus login. Assume this is OK for entering (given the two are inseparable!) – and might offer a solution to your other readers?

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_2LQGR42FBSTAP4XSUOBHGDXUMU Robbie

Fantastic idea! I really hope i win and get the Advent Vega, as it's looking less and less likely that I'll manage to snag one before Xmas!! Great way to give back to your fans, and drive more traffic to this site as well!

Argh! Facebook AND twitter sign-on blocked at work!

Any chance of adding Yahoo to the list?

    (I'm in the UK – I promise!!)

    • James Holland

Hey Robbie – afraid Facebook's the easiest way for us to run it, as we need to reliably filter out the fakers (we've had a few spoil compos before), and tell whether people are in the UK. You can always enter through your phone though, no?

      • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_2LQGR42FBSTAP4XSUOBHGDXUMU Robbie

Sadly the comments section doesn't work from my phone (cruddy N97 – which is another reason i'm hoping to win! lol). Looks like a long way for a shortcut, but will look into setting up a relay via home PC when i get in tonight! Where there's a will there's a way!!!

  • Jack C

We can use Disqus too right? It can be linked to Facebook and Twitter and all the other services! Pretty please with a snowflake on top?
Also, loving this idea. I will be checking back each day for sure.

    • James Holland

As long as we can send you a message and see you're in the UK, that's good enough for us Jack! Facebook's the most reliable way we've found of doing that so far.

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_2LQGR42FBSTAP4XSUOBHGDXUMU Robbie

Can i link my facebook to a Disqus account at home and use the disqus account here to prove i'm in the UK?

Love to have a crack at this but i work for a living and even with dual monitors i don't have time to sit pressing F5 for 3 hours waiting for Enter….. NOW!!!

    So i'm out.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100000399036522 Tim Cooper

However, on the plus side i'm sure you'll have plenty of 'compers' entering, who live for stuff like this. Not potential customers, just people who trawl the internet and enter every contest they can find. (and often turn around and sell whatever they win on Ebay).

bon noel or just merry christmas, truly meant means a lot in any language, i hope

  • angie swift

Our traditional Christmas starts with Xmas stockings being opened when children awake (usually at the crack of dawn). Mid morning its time to open presents under the Xmas tree followed by noise and chaos. Eventually we have a latish lunch of roast duck and all the trimmings (much tastier than turkey) after which its time for all the adults (and a fair few kids) to snooze for an hour or so – quite civilised really!
