We already knew that the BlackBerry PlayBook price point was going to be set at “under $500″, but now there’s more specific details on the RIM tablet, and the cheapest version has a rumoured price point well below that $500 (£310) mark.

There will be three BlackBerry PlayBook models available. An 8GB PlayBook will cost $399 (£256), a 16GB model $499 (£320), and a 32GB $599 (£384). The three versions of the BlackBerry PlayBook will only differ in internal memory.

To put those price points in perspective, that means the 8GB PlayBook is priced alongside the Advent Vega, and the highest £45 cheaper than the most basic iPad, and over £100 cheaper than the RRP of an unlocked BlackBerry Torch 9800.

The PlayBook is Wi-Fi only, and will be launching in the US in Q1 next year, although it’s currently expected around February. It’ll be hitting our shores later in the year, although there are no specific dates yet.
