Rumours abound over the next generation iPad – and the latest word from the Far East is that it will feature front and rear-facing cameras and a USB port for increased connectivity, as well as new display and touch technology.
The Chinese-language Economic Daily News, based in Taiwan, also claims that the iPad 2 will launch in the first quarter of 2011, and that it will go into production later this month.
Back in August, the same newspaper claimed that the iPad 2 would use a 7-inch touchscreen. It has some credibility though: apparently the Economic Daily News was among the first news outlets to state that Apple was working on a tablet when other sources were claiming a netbook was instead in the works.
We’re pretty sure that the iPad 2 will indeed go on sale in early 2011, and wouldn’t be at all surprised if it features a front-facing camera for FaceTime video calls. As for the rest, we’re not so sure – but we’ll keep you posted on further iPad 2 developments.
