The BBC iPlayer is getting an update. The Beeb is adding augmented reality technology to its on-demand TV service in an effort to explain some of its smarter features, added earlier this year..

It’s pretty standard augmented reality fare: BBC iPlayer viewers are invited to print off an iPlayer logo then wave it in front of their webcam to bounce a glowing orb around. The neat stuff comes with the BBC’s addition of celebrities.

Rufus Hound presents the augmented reality explanations, highlighting that you can use iPlayer to discover new shows, share them with friends and see your favourite shows in one place.
