There are over 50 3D games in development for the PS3, according to Sony Computer Entertainment Europe – and that list apparently includes some “massive names”.

SCEE studio director Mick Hocking revealed that Sony is performing in-house 3D-ification on 20 of the 50 or so titles, and says the development studios’ willingness to adopt 3D for their games shows that “the industry is behind our unique message that 3D is a key element in the future of home consoles.”

Currently, we know that Killzone 3, MotorStorm: Apocalypse and the long awaited Gran Turismo 5 will all be served up in three dimensions – but news that another 50-odd stereoscopic 3D titles are coming may convince gamers that investing in a new telly might not be such a bad idea.

    I think 3D in games is key to the public adopting 3DTV's when most have only just upgraded to LCDs!
    I read a comment the other day that surprised me, someone said, “It's about time I upgraded my 4 year old flatscreen”
    It was only my parents generation when a TV lasted at least 15-20 years!
