Advent Vega stock update

This morning we’ve had an update on Advent Vega stock, which sold out just a couple of hours after going on sale. We’ve been in touch with Advent, who had this to say on the state of its stock of the Advent Vega, which apparently sold almost as fast as Take That tickets. Click through for the full comment.

“The first shipment of Advent Vega tablets was made available at the start of business on Friday on Currys and PC World websites, and sold out nearly as quickly as Take That tickets. We are expecting more stock and bigger shipments over the coming days which we will be rolling out as quickly as possible to all our stores in time for the busiest Christmas shopping weekends in December, starting with Currys and PC World megastores at the end of next week.”

    Is this a DSG stunt to drum up interest? were any actually sold online last week or was it a “mistake” – because where are the un-boxing videos that everyone is usually so eager to show first?

      I think they were only available on the website. No units have actually been in the shops yet.

    Thanks for the update Jennifer. The statement didn't mention when online orders would be delivered but as I managed to get an order input within the two hour window they gave us I'd hope and expect to get one before the shops mentioned do.

      I still suspect DSG web developers hit the go live switch accidentally. I'll be surprised if you receive this until they are “actually in stock”

        Yeah probably …. maybe we should have a competition so that first person to get one posts the fact and their impression of the device.

            The day before these supposedly went on sale I was in PC World asking when they would be in stock and the shop had no idea, according to there computers there was none in stock at the wharehouse and no notice on when there would be, so crist knows what people ordered online.

      we don't have any info on that trevor. a number of people have said they've had shipping notifications, so the folks who managed to nab one should be getting them soon. We'll let you know as soon as we hear anything, but info is thin on the ground!

    If this is a ploy to drum up interest, then it has worked on me. I'm frothing at the mouth waiting for one of these bad boys. The wait was so unbearable that I had to purchase a HTC HD7 in an attempt to quell my lust for new gadgets (has worked as a temporary fix). I'm so desperate to get my hands on anything with a Tegra 2 chip that I'd sell my first born son (he will grow to be strong and sturdy – able to lift heavy things and work the mines!).

    I saw the Toshiba Folio in-store (Curry's). That device should have been called the Toshiba “Foolio”, as you'd be out of your mind to purchase such trash.

    We want Vega, and we want it now!!

    I am getting a bit tired of waiting for the Advent Vega. I want to buy it direct from the shop but if all online orders get the priority what chance do i have. I could have purchased it on that small window that PC World were taking orders last Friday, but didnt realise they would not be in the shops straight after they were shown as available. I am looking at other tablets within a similar price range, Can anyone tell me if the Arcos 101 has a spec as good as Vega (Apologies but I not a very techy person).. Thanks

      the archos 101 has a pretty awful screen. It suffers from extreme colour fade at even the smallest angle (about 1 degree) off centre. I tried it out in pc world the other day and it's not good. Also the touch screen was very unresponsive, I was totally unable to start several apps because it wouldn't register my finger pressing the right location. I also found the screen wasn't very strong and would bend under pressure, I could see a frustrated user easily cracking that screen.

        Thankyou very much for taking the time to answer, and very informative it was too :-) Well that knocks that on the head. I guess i will just have to wait a bit longer to see if the stock of Advent Vega every gets onto our shelves. 'Unless you can suggest anything else, although not the one's that are double the price.

    Cant believe it. I had the advent vega in my online shopping basket and then it just disappeared. Grrrrrr

    Just to let you all know. PC World has just accepted my online order. Not sure how long it will be available on line. Hopefully they will have plenty now. Order placed at 11:45 today (saturday).
