Advertising mobile phone tariffs is tricky. It seems like ages since we were last wowed by either a great mobile offer, or the advertising telling us about it. Think back: T-Mobile’s still trotting out tiresome flashmobs, and Orange has had the same balloon animals for donkeys (and monkeys, and racoons) years. With that in mind, we weren’t expecting much from Vodafone Freebees, but we were wrong…
The idea behind Vodafone Freebees is quite refreshing. Top up your Pay As You Go mobile, and you’ll get something free. We’re not talking cinema tickets or lucky dip tickets to the O2 though – this stuff’s genuinely useful and saves you cash in the process.
Choose a Texts and Data Freebee and you’ll get 300 texts and 500MB of web access for a tenner, or up to 3000 texts and 500MB of data with a £30 top up.
Pick an International Freebee and you’ll get between 60 and 240 international minutes chucked in with your top up. If you go for a Free Weekends Freebee then you’ll score free calls and texts, or free texts depending on the amount you top up.
You can claim new Freebees every time you top up, and even better, you’re rewarded for spending PAYG credit too: chomp through £5 of credit in a week and you’ll get 3000 free texts and free calls for the entire weekend.
The new Vodafone Freebees advert is below. It airs on TV this Monday, and it’s the first tariff ad in a long time to make us chuckle too. Let us know what you think in the comments section below.
