Demand Five is headed to Virgin Media, for all your Branson set top box owners out there. Soon, you’ll be able to order up shows from Five, Fiver and Five USA on demand, which should keep fans of everything from The Mentalist to CSI: Scunthorpe content. There’s no timeline just yet, but Virgin Media has confirmed that HD content is included, and Demand Five shows will be available through virginmedia.com and even on mobile as well. Will you be tuning in?

I am getting a bit annoyed that Virgin are adding all of this content on demand including HD and Sky are really falling behind, I have been a Sky customer for years and can not get Virgin but I would switch if I could. Skys On Demand service isn't even HD and I can't use it as I am not a Sky Broadband client and will have to wait another 11 months until I could switch. It also annoys me as much that AppleTV in this country is very poor. Why can't they just add BBC iPlayer and 4OD (including Film4 On Damand) or Love Film streaming to make up for the fact that we can't get TV Episode rentals or Netflix in the UK. As usual, UK market becomes more and more fragmented and there is still not one Set Top Box (perhaps the Boxee Box I guess) that will do everything for the consumer. Sky and Apple… pull your fingers out!

    Chris.

It's tough. I think if you're in that situation, you should really consider a HTCPC. I got an Acer Aspire Revo for £150 last year and it's fantastic, I use it more than any other set top box. It's a year old so can't handle HD iPlayer (But can do 720p YouTube), but other than that, very useful. Virgin's on demand service is good though, i must admit.
