Facebook Deals that were announced for the US on Wednesday evening could be hitting the UK before Christmas. Henri Moissinac, Facebook Head of Mobile, told Electricpig that the timescale for Facebook Deals to be hitting the UK would be similar to the timescale with the rollout of Facebook Places, which arrived on our shores around six weeks after it had launched in the US.

The UK is the next territory in line for the service, that means we can shop around for bargains through Facebook Places, and businesses can push free coffee, discount jeans and all sorts of other tat and total bargains our way. Moissinac said that while the timescale for Deals in the UK was similar to Places rollout, there was a chance that it could get pushed back from before Christmas to after Christmas, but that the time scale should be around six weeks.

Facebook Deals in the US launched with a massive Gap deal, where Gap gave away thousands of pairs of jeans. If you didn’t manage to snag the first batch of freebies, then Gap gave you 40% off a pair. Moissinac said that Facebook Deals in the UK would likely be launching with some similarly bargainous deals over here, but could not give us any names or numbers about what we can expect.
