A new Nokia X2 phone has leaked out onto the interwebs, and unlike the candybar with the same moniker we reviewed only a month ago, this one’s packing a QWERTY keyboard – but still promises to be cheap as chips. Is Nokia set to undercut the BlackBerry altogether?

Ever since Nokia rejigged its phone naming conventions earlier this year, it’s been pulling some strange combinations out, launching very similarly specced phones on its C and X series (See the X3 and C3 Touch and Type), or just giving a brand new handset a name already in use (There have been two Nokia C6 this year). And the new Nokia X2, or X2-01 to give it its full name, as leaked by Unwired View, continues this trend.

You see, while the Symbian S40 powered Nokia X2 is undeniably attractive, with curved edges, a full and solid QWERTY keyboard, microSD card support, an FM radio and a QVGA (320×240 resolution) screen, it’s also eerily similar to the very successful Nokia C3. Which has a full and solid QWERTY keyboard, microSD card support, an FM radio and a QVGA (320×240 resolution) screen.

In fact, the only differences other than the lines of the shell are the lack of Wi-Fi in the Nokia X2- it’s all 2G, all the time – and a three megapixel camera instead of the C3′s 2MP sensor.

Confusing? Yes. But if the Nokia X2 comes in at an even cheaper price than the Nokia C3, we’d frankly struggle to see the point of phones with 0-9 keypads anymore.
