If you got up an hour late today, fear not, you can legitimately blame it on your iPhone. Most of the iPhone owning portion of the country got up an hour late this morning, as a bug in the iPhone alarm that affected Australia a couple of weeks ago appears not to have been fixed as was promised.

The problem is with daylight savings time – the iPhone updates but any alarms set get stuck, meaning that they are not adjusted for when the clock goes back, as they did this weekend. This means that if you set your iPhone alarm to go off at a certain time every weekday, you will have got up an hour later than that this morning.

Our Twitter feed is full with folks up late this morning, and iPhone alarm is trending as we speak. To fix it you’ll need to create a new alarm, not just edit the old one.

The problem cropped up in Australia around three weeks ago, when Apple acknowledged the bug and promised a fix. As is obvious this morning, Apple hasn’t quite got around to doing it yet though, despite the fact that it’s a relatively small fix that’s needed. Looks like Apple stores across the UK will be opening their doors an hour later than usual this morning…

My alarm (unfortunately) went off at 06.45 this morning as it was supposed to. Not wanting to be woken up at this un-earthly hour over the weekend I turned the alarms off on Friday then re-activated them on Sunday night when I went to bed ready for this morning. This obviously allowed my iPhone to sidestep the probelm.

My iphone's alarm worked fine this morning. Not remembering the daylight savings change over the weekend, I woke up this morning to the alarm at 7am, looked out the window and thought maybe the time is wrong since the sun wasn't up yet. :-)
