Whip out your remote – BBC One HD has just been dated. We now know it’ll start airing from 7pm on Wednesday 3 November with (what else) The One Show. Unlike BBC HD, it’s a simulcast of BBC One, with HD programmes where possible, and upscaled content otherwise, so if you’ve got Freesat (Channel 108), Freeview HD (Channel 50), Sky (143) or Virgin Media (108) there’s no reason not to give it a whirl. Except possibly Jason Manford.

As Windows Phone 7 hits the streets, streaming media company Sling Media has announced that it is bringing its SlingPlayer app to the new mobile OS.
Buy a new MacBook Air, and you won’t get an OS X DVD in the box, instead you’ll get this tiny USB drive, which Apple dubs the ‘MacBook Air Software Reinstall Drive’. Stored on it is everything you need to restore the new MacBook Air back to its factory settings, but did you really expect Apple to include any old USB stick with the new MacBook Air? Of course not.
