It should probably come as no surprise that the HTC Desire HD has strolled straight into the top spot on our best HTC phone Top 5 list after we gave it five stars in our full HTC Desire HD review, but it’s crashed onto three other shortlists too. Is the HTC Desire HD the best Android phone? Read on to see where it placed.

The HTC Desire HD has gone straight in at number three on our best smartphone Top 5, nestling just below the iPhone 4 and Samsung Galaxy S – and shunting the year old BlackBerry Bold 9700 off the list entirely. It’s also dropped into the number two spot in our best Android phone list, and entered at number three on our best gadgets of 2010 list.

Why doesn’t the HTC Desire HD beat the iPhone 4 or Samsung Galaxy S? While we’re smitten with its design, the combination of a slightly less impressive screen, poor battery life and a few bugs hold it back, even if the Samsung Galaxy S does run an older version of Android. But there’s no denying that the HTC Desire HD is one mesmerising mobile: it’s absurdly powerful and wonderful to clutch, and is one of the most enjoyable smartphones we’ve ever used.

    I don't get, the iphone 4 is just the 3gs with a new look and abit fast. the galaxy s is a platic phone that restarts when you run 3 apps at the same time and restarts when you need to make a call.
