Apparently Google is working on a second own-brand Android phone – and it’ll be available this year, exclusively at The Carphone Warehouse. Reports claim the followup to the Google Nexus One will be called, appropriately enough, the Google Nexus Two.

While the Google Nexus One was released exclusively through a single network – Vodafone – its successor will be released through a single retailer. An “industry source” said that, after experiencing issues with selling the Nexus One through its website, it wants to put the Nexus Two in an actual bricks and mortar shop. Does that mean the Nexus Two will be available only through Best Buy – owned by the same company as The Carphone Warehouse – in the US? The report doesn’t say.

It’s as yet unclear which manufacturer has been enlisted to built the Google Nexus Two, although Samsung seems to have been discounted for some reason. Little too is known about the phone’s specs and features, although Android Gingerbread seems the likely operating system.
