Samsung has created a range of prescription 3D glasses to help those who already rely on a pair of specs enjoy 3D telly without having to balance an extra pair on their nose.

It is pretty much the definition of a First World Problem, but the magic of 3D can be a royal pain to people who have impaired vision. Watching TV and 2D cinema is generally ok with the aid of a pair of glasses, but adding a pair of 3D goggles means you need to either switch to contacts, watch a fuzzy mess of colours and shapes or try to make your own glasses fit underneath the 3D pair.

Clearly, two pairs of glasses at once is not a good look. Samsung knows this, however, and has come up with a range of prescription 3D glasses that will let you watch 3D TV without having to keep your head very, very still.

The glasses are only available through Samsung shops in Korea at the moment, but as 3D TV takes off it can surely only be a matter of time before we see them in the UK. After dropping your prescription off at the shop the glasses take around a month to manufacture. Again, this is something that should speed up once the demand takes off.

Fantastic! I saw my first 3D film last night (Despicable Me) and it was brilliant. The 3D experience far surpassed my expections. I wear glasses and contact lens, so if 3D does take off then some prescription eyeware for 3D would be useful. Is 3D technology in the cinema different to that of 3D TV? Are the glasses the same?
